Wednesday Classes in MayBallroom Annex, Glen Echo ParkGlen Echo Park Folk Waltz Basics Drop-ins welcome to the last two classes of this series: Join in the fun and learn the basic footwork and half-turn along with plenty of moves to provide variety and interest. No partner required. $15/class at the door. Swing & Lindy I Drop-ins welcome to the last two classes of this series: Learn basic footwork, partnering skills, and plenty of moves. You'll master the basics and see how easy it is to dance with anyone. Leaders preferred; $15/class at the door. Wednesday Classes in JuneBallroom Annex (air-conditioned), Glen Echo ParkFolk Waltz: Intermediate Level Folk waltzers who know the basic half-turn will progress to the optical illusion, outside spin, pivots, cross-overs and more. Improve counter-balancing and see how it makes spinning to fast music effortless! Smarten up your lead/follow skills and styling. No partner or experience required. $40 for four weeks. You can register ONLINE (recommended) or at the door on June 6. Swing & Lindy II: Intermediate Level There's more to swing dancing than 6-count tuck turns and pass-bys! We'll move on to swingouts, 8-count Lindy figures and Charleston. Gain the experience that helps you express the music in your own dancing. For students who know 6-count triple swing footwork. No partner required. $40 for four weeks. You can register ONLINE (recommended) or at the door on June 6. *Registration Notes: Each full series costs $40, plus a $12 registration fee. If you intend to take other dance classes or any other Glen Echo classes, and you register for all of them on the same form or during the same online session, you pay the registration fee only ONCE for all the classes. Room 304, Arcade BuildingBlues Dancing: If you’ve taken a beginning Blues class or enjoyed a few Blues dances, you are ready to move up to the next level. This class goes beyond the basics with challenging footwork, dips, and figures. We will borrow from Argentine tango for more options and improvisation. Blues Dancing: Advanced If you've taken Int./Adv. level blues classes or have been dancing Blues for a few months, you are ready to move up to the next level. This is our most advanced Blues class. Take the final challenge and refine your connection and styling. Really tune your footwork, incorporate dips and leans, and develop your creative side. Thursdays, July 12 - August 2, 8:00 - 9:00 pm When the music gets too slow to swing dance and changes the mood altogether, you need to know how to change your dancing too. Learn the tools to establish a strong connection with your partner, develop effective lead/follow skills, and move creatively as partners to express the blues. No partner required. $40 for four, one-hour classes.
